Visiting Michigan

We spent a long weekend in Michigan visiting my family!  Here are some pix from our visit!

We took the kids down to a nearby park to play one afternoon and just happened to get there as 2 hot air balloons were launching!  The girls love watching the hot air balloons that float over our house, so this was pretty cool to see up close!

Here are a few pix from us playing at the park!

Another day we walked down to a small park near my parents house.  The leaves were absolutely beautiful and so was the weather!  We had fun taking photos and enjoying the fall colors!  What a priceless afternoon!

Here's Makayla playing with some of the Lego blocks that my brothers and I used to play with!

Here's the girls and my brother, Pat

Here's me and my Grandma!

Here's a neat photo that I took on the way home!

October Fun

Here are a few random pix as well as some stories from our October Adventures!

Lydia is quickly transitioning from a baby to a toddler!  She's 19 months old now and she's talking up a storm!  She can say 3-4 word phrases and she repeats everything we say!  She likes to repeat some of Makayla's phrases such as:  "Hey Mom" and "Watch this!"  She also likes to say things like "My turn!" and "Don't want to!"  She is starting to throw tantrums...the good kind where she throws herself backwards and kicks the floor!  I seem much more tolerant of this type of behavior with the 2nd child!  LOL!  Lydia also likes to sit on the potty like Makayla and she likes to wipe her bottom with toilet paper.  She hasn't really figured out how to put anything in the potty...just likes to sit on it!  She also refuses to sit in her highchair most days and wants to sit (stand) on a regular chair at the table!

One afternoon I was drinking decaf coffee and I let Lydia take a sip.  (It was pretty weak and had lots of sugar free flavor syrup)  She liked it and wanted more, but I wouldn't let her have it.  A few minutes later she ran off and I found her drinking my coffee!  She kept saying "coffee" all afternoon and wanting more.  I finally made her some hot chocolate and now she's a huge fan of hot chocolate!  Some mornings when I am drinking my coffee, the girls enjoy having some hot chocolate with me!

Makayla is quite the chatterbox these days!  She can be so well-behaved when it's just her and I, but when Lydia is around, she tends to revert to behaving like an 18 month old!  I've started talking Makayla places without Lydia...like the Library and the Mall and we have a very fun time together!

One afternoon the kids wanted to play outside after school.  I really didn't want to be outside because it was kind of chilly and damp.  As we were playing, I told Makayla I was cold and that we should go inside.  She just looked at me and said in a know-it-all voice, "Mom, go get a warmer coat!"

Makayla will be playing and then all of the sudden she'll try to look real innocent and she'll say, "Mom, I didn't toot!"

Makayla and Chad must have been out tending the garden one weekend.  A few days later, Makayla said to me "Mom, you died the cucumber!"  (Chad had been blaming me for moving the cucumber plant and slowing the growth of the plant)

One day while playing, Makayla got up and went to use the potty.  About two minutes later, she got up again and said in an annoyed voice, "Now I have to go poopy!  That's ridiculous!"  (She was annoyed that she had just gone to the potty a few minutes earlier and had to go use it again!)

Below are a few pix of the girls picking out pumpkins!

We took the kids to the N.E.W. Zoo for trick-or-treating.  The weather was beautiful and we stopped to play in the play area for a while!  The kids had a blast getting and eating candy!   :)

Fall Family Pix

We had our family photos taken in early October!  Here are some of my favorites!  :)
