Happy October!
(even though November is already half over)
Lydia is a little chatter box and is always entertaining! It's funny to hear how she hears things! For example, she was riding on a toy horse and she kept saying "Get me up horsey!" instead of "giddy up horsey!"
Makayla sings a little song at school that she taught Lydia. It goes:
Hello, hello, hello and how are you?
I'm fine, I'm fine, and I hope that you are too!
Lydia goes around singing it and then she'll get all excited and say, "I'm 2!" when she finishes that last phrase of the song! (get it?)
One day Makayla and I were discussing some differences in people and I said "that's how God made you." Lydia chimes in out of the blue, "I have tubes in my ears, that's how God made me!" and then she went right back to doing what she was doing!
One morning Lydia did something special and I said, "Oh, I'm so proud of you!" and Lydia said, "I'm so proud of me too!"
One morning at 5:30am Lydia called out from her crib, "Mom, I'm awake!" She just sat in there waiting for me to come get her!
One day Lydia went into Makayla's room and saw her pink blanket in Makayla's bed. She says in the most astonished voice, "How did this get in here?!" (Makayla swiped it because she also loves this blanket)
When Lydia couldn't get one of her toys to work, I heard her say to herself, "What is going on here?" (I know this is a phrase I say quite often!)
The girls get along pretty well, but here's an example of how they can push each others buttons! They were eating a snack and I had just poured Lydia a glass of water.
Lydia: I don't want any water
Me: Okay, don't drink it
Makayla: I'm thirsty!
Me: Okay, drink Lydia's water, she doesn't want it
Lydia: Noooooo! I want it
Me: Okay, I'll get Makayla her own water!
Lydia: I need to keep it just in case sister wants it!
The girls love playing with their baby dolls and stuffed animals! They play all sorts of things like gymnastics, house, school, daycare, etc! They line the dolls up, move them around, name them, and make them do different gymnastics moves. They also like to play store and cash register. I like shopping with Lydia...she is always the cashier, everything I buy costs $7, and she always gives me money when I buy something! ;)
Makayla had fun with Halloween and is looking forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas festivities! We just put up our outdoor Christmas lights and she had a blast helping Chad! She can't wait to put up the Christmas tree! She loves going to school and riding the school bus home! (even though she grumbles some mornings about having to go, she always is smiling and happy when we get there and when she gets off the bus) She enjoys singing me all the songs and finger plays that she learns at school and she comes home with some fun art projects! She also loves telling me all the things she learns from her teacher!
We've been cooped up inside more these days, so I've been on a mission to find some new activities to do inside with the kids. More to come on our adventures, perhaps after the holidays and after we find some activities that we really like!!
Well, those are my fun October tales! Here are 2 random photos that I took in October!
Found Lydia sneaking in a little nap...she was playing on the couch with her babies and all of the sudden she was snoozing! She has fallen asleep a few times in random places! This is a side-effect of her no longer taking an afternoon nap! She seems to sneak in at least 1 nap a week...either in a mystery spot in the house or else in the van on the way home from some activity!
Lydia LOVES anything chocolate...especially her "chocolate balls" cereal, which is Reese's Peanut Butter Cup cereal. I have been trying to get her to eat healthier, so I mixed Kix in with her "chocolate balls" and called them "vanilla balls". She immediately decided she did not like vanilla balls! She'd either eat all the chocolate ones and leave the Kix behind, or else she'd sit and pick out every Kix before eating the cereal! The only good thing about my adding the Kix is that she has lost interest in the chocolate balls...maybe because it's so much work to "not" eat the vanilla balls! Time to phase them right out of the pantry!
